In the second part of the Advent season, the focus of the liturgical texts shifts toward Christmas, reminding us of Jesus' first coming. The way people have awaited the arrival of the Messiah for centuries is an inspiration for us, but also a mirror to see if the dimension of expectation and anticipation has not faded from our spiritual journey. This dimension is important because it gives the right place to the realities of this world, which does not have to mean their devaluation, but rather underscores their importance, as how we live our lives now is significant for our future life.
In the week of December 3, we will have an online catechism session on Tuesday at 8:30 PM. We will continue with the topic of Christology. In the week of December 10, there will be an online Bible study on Tuesday at 8:30 PM, where we will continue our reading of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. Registration for the meeting is, as usual, on the Tuesday before the meeting here on the website. On Thursday at 7 PM, there will be a meeting of the parish pastoral council at the Club. On Saturday at 7 AM at the Church of the Holy Family, there will be rorate, followed by a joint prayer of morning praises.
On Sunday, December 17, we enter the pre-Christmas week. On Monday at 4:30 PM, there will be pre-Christmas confessions at the Church of the Holy Family. On Sunday, December 24, the first part still belongs to the Advent season, and the Masses will be as usual on Sunday. The afternoon Mass will be from the Christmas season, specifically from the Vigil of the Nativity of the Lord. This year's Midnight Mass will be at both St. Martin's and the Church of the Holy Family. On Monday, there will be Masses at 10:00 AM, and on Tuesday at 9:00 AM. There will be no online Bible study in the evening. On Wednesday, wine will be blessed at the end of the Mass. Next Sunday, there will be a thanksgiving at the end of the Mass for the past civil year. In the sacristy of the Church of the Holy Family, the Bethlehem light is available. Please come to collect it during the Masses; there is no one in the sacristy at other times.
