News December 2021

We also participate in Rorate Masses, celebrated in honor of the Virgin Mary, which take place before sunrise, in a time of silence and accompanied by the singing of traditional songs that lead us to reflect on the events associated with the incarnation of the Son of God.

During the week of December 5, on Tuesday there will be a holy mass at St. Martin's Church, please make a reservation for a seat at the holy mass. On Wednesday, there will be an online catechism class at 20:30. On Saturday at 6:30, there will be a holy mass with Rorate songs at the Holy Family Church. Next Sunday at 9:00, the holy mass will be celebrated by the Abbot of Strahov and long-time pastor of Řepy, Father Daniel P. Janáček. In the attachment of this article, you can read the new issue of Martinovin, for which I am very grateful for its preparation.

During the week of December 12, there will be a holy mass at St. Martin's Church on Tuesday (again, please make a reservation). On Wednesday at 20:30, there will be an online biblical hour. We are preparing another pilgrimage to Strahov on Saturday, January 8. Details and a registration form will soon be posted here on the website.

During the week of December 19, there will be an opportunity for confession at the Holy Family Church on Monday at 16:30. Then on Tuesday, there will be a holy mass at St. Martin's Church, please make a reservation for a seat. On Wednesday at 20:30, there will be an online catechism hour. On Friday, there will be a holy mass at the Holy Family Church at 16:00, especially for families with children, celebrated from the vigil of the Nativity of the Lord (a reservation for a seat is necessary). The midnight holy mass is also at the Holy Family exactly at midnight (also, please make a reservation for a seat). On Saturday, we celebrate the Nativity of the Lord. Holy masses will be at the Holy Family Church at 9:00 and 10:30, and similarly to Sunday, it is necessary to make a reservation for a seat. Sunday holy masses will proceed as usual, with the 9:00 mass also being broadcasted on Czech Radio, Vltava station.

During the week of December 26, we will celebrate the feast of St. John the Evangelist on Monday. It is customary to bless wine during the services on that day. If you wish to have your wine blessed, please place it before the altar before the start of the holy mass, and it will be blessed together at the end. On Wednesday, there is an online biblical hour. The Friday holy mass on New Year’s Eve is one hour earlier, and at the end of the mass, there will be a thanksgiving service. The holy masses on New Year's Day, for the Feast of the Mother of God, will be at 9:00 and 10:30. A change in epidemic measures was published on the website of the Ministry of Health: there is no longer a requirement to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters between participants at the service, and it is not necessary to disinfect hands upon entering the church. It is still strongly recommended. Currently, this means we no longer need to make reservations for seats at the holy masses.

An overview of Christmas services in our parish can be found here.

You can already register for the pilgrimage to Strahov Monastery, which will take place on Saturday, January 8. The number of participants is limited to 30.

Please consider whether you could dedicate two hours of your time on Saturday morning to clean the Holy Family Church. This task is shared by only a few parishioners, and every helping hand will be gratefully accepted. You can sign up for the cleaning here on the website. Thank you in advance!

Thank you to everyone who participated in watching over the nativity scene at St. Martin's Church.

I have prepared an article about the synod in our parish; if you would like to participate in the synod, please read it, and I invite you to join the synodal group.
