News November 2021

According to the document of the Apostolic Penitentiary, there is an opportunity to obtain the usual plenary indulgence applicable to the souls in purgatory throughout the month of November. It is necessary to fulfill the usual three conditions (to be in a state of grace, to receive the Eucharist that day, to pray for the intentions of the Holy Father) and to visit a cemetery and pray for the deceased there.

On Monday, October 25, the conditions for attending services to prevent the spread of coronavirus were updated, meaning that the option to not wear a respirator if the number of attendees does not exceed 10 has been removed. From now on, it is mandatory to wear a respirator in every case, to disinfect hands upon entering the church, and to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters.

In the week of October 31, we have the Feast of All Saints on Monday. During that day in the afternoon—and on November 2 all day—it is possible to obtain plenary indulgences for the deceased when visiting any church (there is no need to go to a cemetery), provided that the usual three conditions are met and one prays the Our Father and the Apostles' Creed in the church. The Tuesday Mass will be celebrated in the chapel at the Sisters' cemetery. On Wednesday at 8:30 PM there is an online Bible study, and on Thursday at 7 PM there is a parish council meeting at St. Martin's Church. The Mass next Sunday (November 7) at 9:00 will be celebrated by the Strahov Abbot Daniel Peter Janáček OPraem. Unfortunately, on Monday, November 1, the abbot apologized for attending. I will try to secure his presence for Advent... The collection that Sunday is designated for supporting the church's charitable activities.

In the week of November 7, there will be a Mass on Tuesday at St. Martin's Church. On Wednesday at 7 PM, there will be the announced lecture by Marek Orko Vácha on the topic of Evangelization at the Church of the Holy Family (it will be streamed online on the parish YouTube channel). For this reason, there will be no online catechism hour this week. On Thursday, there is the traditional St. Martin's procession. It begins with a short program and the lighting of candles at 5 PM in the Church of the Holy Family, then proceeds to St. Martin's Church, where there will be a short cultural program that ends in front of the municipal office with fireworks. At 6:30 PM, there will be a pilgrimage Mass at St. Martin's Church.

In the week of November 14, there will be an online Bible study on Wednesday. Next Sunday, on the Feast of Christ the King, there will be a short devotion before the exposed Eucharist at the end of the Mass. If you missed Marek O. Vácha's lecture on Wednesday, you can watch it from the recording on the parish YouTube.

The week of November 21 is the last in the liturgical year. On Wednesday, we will have an online catechism hour, continuing the topic of biblical anthropology. The following Sunday, November 28, is the 1st Advent Sunday, marking the beginning of the new liturgical year. Traditionally, Advent wreaths are blessed that Sunday. If you would like to have your Advent wreath blessed, please place it in front of the altar before the start of Mass. During Advent, we will celebrate Advent rorate Masses every Saturday at the Church of the Holy Family at 6:30 AM.

The week of November 28 is already an Advent week. There will be a Mass on Tuesday at St. Martin's Church, where I ask for a reservation for a place. Also on Tuesday, but at the Church of the Holy Family, there will be a Taizé prayer at 7:30 PM. On Wednesday at 8:30 PM, there will be an online Bible study. On Saturday at 6:30 AM, there will be a Mass at the Church of the Holy Family with rorate chants. The collection next Sunday (December 5) is dedicated to supporting seminarians. In the attachment to this article, you can read the pastoral letter of the Cardinal for the 1st Sunday of Advent.

In the attachment to this article, you can read the latest edition of Martinovin... Thank you for the preparation to Mr. Peřich.

I wish you blessed days,

Gregory J. Žáček
