At the same time, we are entering the Christmas season, which then transitions into the liturgical season. We also have a week of prayer for the unity of Christians ahead of us.
In the week starting December 31, we will have Masses as usual, and at the end of the holy Masses there will be a short ceremony to give thanks for the past year. On Monday, January 1, Masses will be at 9:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Family, and at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Martin. On Tuesday at 8:30 PM, there will be an online catechism class. On Thursday at 7:00 PM, there will be a meeting at the Club focusing on Scripture and related topics. Friday is the first of the month, and from 5:00 PM there will be an adoration of the Eucharist at the Church of the Holy Family. On Saturday at 4:00 PM, there will be a live Nativity scene in the garden of the St. Charles Home. On Friday evening and Saturday evening, there will be a Mass for the Feast of the Epiphany. Next Sunday, there will be parish coffee after the Mass. I kindly ask you to bring refreshments again. Thank you in advance. I would like to express my deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to the celebration of the Christmas festivities, whether it be the sacristans, the choir, altar servers, organists, or all the volunteers.
In the week starting January 7, there will be an online Bible class on Tuesday at 8:30 PM, during which we will continue reading Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. On Thursday at 7:00 PM, the parish pastoral council will meet at the Club.

Next Sunday is the Sunday of God's Word, during which there will be a collection to support the Czech Biblical Society and the Czech Catholic Biblical Work. Attached to this article is a letter from Bishop Wasserbauer regarding this Sunday.
In the week starting January 21, there will be an online Bible class on Tuesday at 8:30 PM. On Friday, the Mothers' Prayer community invites you to a prayer meeting at St. Martin's Church starting at 5:00 PM. Entrance will be through the side door at the sacristy. You can find the QR code for the collection for the Sunday of God's Word in the attachment to this article.
In the week starting January 28, there will be an altar server meeting on Monday at 5:00 PM at the Church of the Holy Family. On Tuesday at 7:30 PM, there will be prayer with chants from Taizé, followed by an online catechism class at 8:30 PM, where we will explore another topic in Christology. On Thursday at 7:00 PM, there will be a meeting of the parish pastoral council at the Club. Candles will be blessed during the Mass on Friday. The next Mass on Sunday at 9:00 AM will be a children's Mass. After the Mass, there will be parish coffee; we will again try to organize it in the dining hall and kindly ask for some refreshments, thank you in advance! Confirmation of donations for the parish is printed and available in the sacristy at the Holy Family, or you can contact me by email.
On Monday, February 12, we will celebrate World Day of the Sick during the holy Mass and will collectively administer the Sacrament of the Sick. I kindly ask those who wish to receive this sacrament (the sick and also the elderly) to prepare by receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to register in the sacristy (we have to send annual statistics on the number of sacraments received).
With the beginning of 2024, an online application called Donor will start in our archdiocese. Through this application, parishioners will be able to contribute their gifts directly to the Priest Salary Support Fund instead of previous church collections called for this purpose. Donors can register starting in January and specify the amount of their financial gift at the web address: praha.donator.cz. An information leaflet about the application, with more details, is attached to this article.
We invite you to a pilgrimage trip to Medjugorje. You can find out more details in the poster attached to this article...
I wish you all the best,
Gregory J. Žáček.
