News June 2024

Liturgical celebrations, like the working life of many of us, are moving towards a period of rest and vacations.

In the week of June 2 we will have a meeting over the Scriptures and the topic on Monday at 7 PM. On Tuesday at 7:30 PM, there will be a prayer with songs from Taizé at the Church of the Holy Family. Then, at 8:30 PM, there will be an online catechism hour. There will be no mass in the parish on Thursday; I invite you to the mass at Strahov at 6 PM, which will be celebrated by the Archbishop. Before the mass, there will be an opportunity for eucharistic adoration from 1:30 PM to 4:45 PM. On Friday, it is the Night of Churches. Our churches will be open from 7 PM to 10 PM. On Saturday, I invite you to the pilgrimage to Drasty for the blessing of the newly built church of the Carmelite monastery. The mass begins at 10 AM. Please pay attention to the organizational instructions on their website. Next Sunday there will be a children’s mass. In the afternoon next Sunday, I invite you to the parish picnic at 3 PM in the garden of Domov SKB. Further information is on the flyer on the notice board or in the attachment to this article. As the organizers do not know how many of you will come, we kindly ask you to bring some snacks with you.

In the week of June 9 we will have a parish picnic in the afternoon at 3 PM. There will be no online hour this Tuesday. On Thursday at 7 PM, the pastoral council of the parish will meet. We thank everyone who helped with the Night of Churches!

In the week of June 16 there will be an online catechism hour on Tuesday at 8:30 PM. Other events are taking place according to their regular schedule.

In the week of June 23 there will be a meeting of the parish economic council after the mass on Tuesday at the Church of St. Martin. For this reason, there will be no online Bible hour this week. On Tuesday at 7:30 PM, there will be a Taizé prayer at the Church of the Holy Family. Our choir is among the largest and has the longest tradition. A heartfelt thank you goes to all its members for their loyalty!

In the attachment, I am also including a letter from the bishops regarding the elections to the European Parliament.

I wish you peaceful days.

Gregory J. Žáček.
