Important information about the urn at the back of the church
Please pay more attention to the information on the notice board in the church vestibule. Although the Offer of Intercessory Prayer with detailed information about the purpose of the urn labeled “thanks and requests” has been hanging there for half a year, sometimes someone confuses it with a collection box. Others wonder what happens to their requests placed in the urn and where they end up. I will explain it again. During the Sunday Holy Mass, we do not deal with the individual requests in the urn, but the children will carry them in the procession to the altar, symbolically expressing that we place them all with trust in the Holy Mass. This will help us remember that we should “bear one another’s burdens.” (Gal 6:2) But it does not end there. During the week, usually on Thursday after the Holy Mass, the local intercessory prayer group will join your requests. Each individual request—and in urgent cases also repeatedly and long-term—is presented with trust to Almighty God. Only then are the slips discreetly burned in the fire. Although the vast majority of requests are anonymous, the prayer group is bound by a vow of confidentiality. For them, it is a great reward and encouragement when thanks for the answers to prayers appear beside the requests in the urn. They happily join in and thank all those who use this service for their expressed trust.
I convey an invitation to a volunteer day at the Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist in Zeměchy on Saturday, March 25 at 10 AM; further information is here.
