News from October 24, 2020

Because government measures are being adopted relatively frequently, I recommend that you follow the news or visit the website of the government of the Czech Republic directly. You can verify the current form of the measures on the government website. The bishops have also commented on the current situation here.

Currently, it is allowed to travel from one’s place of residence for individual spiritual care and services. No more than 2 people may meet in public, excluding members of the household. This means that public worship is not possible, and spiritual care can only be provided in an individual manner.

As a result of government measures, worship services and other parish activities are temporarily suspended. The intentions for Masses that were previously submitted will be celebrated on the days they were scheduled. Our bishops invite us to a shared prayer of the rosary for the intention of stopping the epidemic. This is also a way we can remain spiritually connected.

We will perform individual spiritual care similar to how we did in the spring. At St. Martin's Church on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 PM to 7 PM and on Sundays between 9 AM and 10 AM, there is an opportunity to individually receive the Eucharist and approach the sacrament of reconciliation. At the same time, I offer you the possibility of receiving Holy Communion with us at Strahov by arrangement with Father Mikuláš at the following times:

  • Weekdays (Mon-Sat) at 6:30 PM
  • On Sundays at 9:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 6:30 PM.

There will be a live broadcast of the Mass on the parish's YouTube channel on Sundays at 8:00 AM (it can only be celebrated with two people).

Important notice: On Sunday, October 25th, clocks will be set back to winter time, i.e., one hour back.

Let’s hope that even with these measures, we can reverse the unfavorable trend of illness in our surroundings. I wish you to remain healthy and in good spirits,

Řehoř J. Žáček, parish priest
